A concert by the band U2 is to be held behind a wall to prevent people without tickets to enter the show.

What a mark of respect this is to the German people and those in Eastern Europe. Most people attending will probably not even know why they are there apart from knowing the words “Berlin Wall” and only a few may have an understanding of why it was raised and how it fell.

This show by U2 is a part of the MTV music awards which awards to those who are rich and bring in the most capital to the records companies rather than produce real music from the soul.

MTV was once the voice of a young and free society but has long turned into a corparate machine.

I recently watch a film from the mid seventies called Network which is about how a TV network exploits a former TV anchor’s revelations about the media.

There are two scenes where the main character Howard Beale gives two emotional and powerful speeches about how the media exploits us viewers which today actually stands true.

A senior US diplomat Matthew Hoh, who was posted to the Zabul province in Afghanistan has resigned over his doubts over why the US is in Afghanistan and his doubts regarding “Our current strategy and planned future strategy”.

Matthew Hoh sent a very powerful four page letter to the US State Department outlining his reasons for his resignation. I really suggest you read the whole letter rather than look at news sites and try and digest what news outlets want you to hear and read.

Matthew Hoh is the first brave man since the Obama administration took office to step out of the crowd and shout out about current US policy and its objectives abroad. The US needs more people at the top just like Matthew Hoh to stand up for what is right.

Poland’s Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, yesterday said that he supported an independent Palestine and wishes to continue cooperation with the Palestinian Authority to see this through.

He then went on to say that Poland as a country which was occupied and suffered a major displacement of citizens, stands together with the Palestinian cause. Foreign Minister Sikorski, also said that he supported Israel’s right to exist as safe and secure state.

Foreign Minister Sikorski, later was quoted saying “Poland confirms our will for cooperation with the Palestinian Authority, I signed a memorandum with the foreign minister on political consultation. We will uphold our level of development aid to the Palestinians, as well as scholarship programmes for Palestinian students and training of Palestinian police in our country”

It is about time more countries especially from the west, stood up in support for Palestine and its people. They have been through a lot and even though the suffering has always been clear to see it appears only now that certain leaders are standing up to Israel’s strong stance against the Palestinians and displaying supportive dialogue for the Palestinian cause.

Finding a peaceful solution to the decades of carnage and suffering will help bolster peace in this region and as a lot of the problems faced in the World today stem from the problems encountered by the Palestinians it will help to at least sooth some of the anger that grows and travels from here.
