Murdoch wants more money!

Rupert Murdoch says that he expects newspaper Web sites owned by News organisations to start charging users to access the content! He perceives this to come into affect within a year.
I am not even going to go on any further about his money making reasons behind this. He believes it will work and I am somewhat certain it will to an extent. But I highly doubt that we will see all major news organisations to follow suit. It just wont make sense for them to do so.
This will actually be a good move. Now the smaller online news organisations can actually compete with the bigger monsters. Users will face the question “do I pay Murdoch or go and read this site which is free?” I know which I will go for, since most of Murdoch’s news organisations bend the truth or heavily skew their content towards their own opinions, I for one would prefer to read a non biased article on any given piece of news.
Now, since the advent of mobile Internet and the increase of devices used to access the Web whilst being mobile. This has had a negative affect on sales of news papers. Many have been forced to close down due to declining sales and many people losing jobs.
There are many reasons why people would prefer to read off a electronic device which has Web access rather than carry a newspaper around with them. A user can read what only interests them, the information is often more up to date online, there is the financial issue in terms of costs and also environmental issues. But this does not justify any reason to charge for news content.
The only point I don’t quite understand is what is happening to all the ad revenue that news organisations make from their newspapers, magazines, and Web sites? I rarely have seen newspapers where they don’t have at least one advert on a page somewhere.
I guess Murdoch will give it a go and see, he has enough money and if it doesn’t go according to plan, well he can just report that it has!
